Major characters:
Mi'ishaen Lucien-Azaroth (Isha, Mishka, Mi-Mi, Dodge)
First seen in: The un-horned legacy.
Homeland: Vor Kragal, Turathi Empire
Race: Tiefling
Languages: Infernal (native), Common
Voice: Clear, low female, no specific accent
Height: 5' 4''
Skin tone: Ruddy tan
Eyes: Blood red
Hair: Straight, black, shoulder length
Physical quirks: Wheat colored ram's horns and hooves, fully prehensile tail
Once the younger daughter of a dual-purposed court jester, Mi'ishaen was made an orphan by the bitter end of the War of Empires (known to most in Faerûn as the Arkhosian-Turathi War). She harbors a deep distrust for magic and worship of all kinds that she does not care to explain even to herself. She lies out of habit and has little respect for authority. She has developed a vaguely moral, but agnostic view of existence, and believes that life is for those strong enough to live it.
Ceubel Jyklihaimra-pas-Naja (Silverhag, Silveredge, Shadow Child, Lamb, Edge, Rasha)
First seen in: A little light entertainment.
Homeland: Sunderhope Commune, Shadowfell
Race: Shadar-Kai (fey descent)
Languages: Elven (native), Common, Sylvan, Signed Undercommon, Eladrin
Voice: Clear, mid-tone female (mezzo-soprano singing voice), no specific accent
Height: 5' 5''
Skin tone: Very light blue
Eyes: Silver
Hair: Straight, silver, waist length
Physical quirks: Slave ring piercing through the back of the base of her neck, Drow thorned wing tattoo across both shoulder blades.
Freed from Ides Ashok-pir-Raz by default when he was hung in Bhairoset for attempted murder, Jylkihaimra was re-named "Silveredge" by Mi'ishaen, who was nearly sliced by the shuriken and katars retrieved from said former master. She has been enslaved for more than half of her lifetime, and she believes her docility is a gift. Having seen both the destruction of evil and the brittle emptiness of good, she prefers to follow the Raven Queen's path, seeking true neutrality in most of her dealings. She believes that everyone deserves to live long enough to learn more about themselves and the world around them.
Bloodtalon Aleksei Petrovich Voyonov (Lyosha/Lyoshenka, Alek, Two-Tone, Talon, Voyonov, Al)
First seen in: In the name of fairness.
Homeland: Ice-eyes clan lands, Arkhosian Empire
Race: Dragonborn
Languages: Mountain Draconic (native), broken Common
Voice: Husky, low-voice male (baritone singing voice), heavy accent
Height: 7'
Skin tone: Fair skin with mostly silver scales
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Straight, blond with silvery dragon-tendrils, mid-back length
Physical quirks: Left eye scarred shut, right leg is green scaled, last third of his tail gone, extensive scarring to arms and chest, right hand and arm partially green scaled.
Ejected from the Bloodtalon warrior clan before receiving the arcane training needed to become a Talon of Tiamat, Aleksei is a veteran of the Arkhosian-Turathi War, and wounded in every possible way. To say he is a promiscuous alcoholic is putting things mildly. He is naturally an honest, loving creature, but his misguided zeal led him to make a series of unfortunate choices. He struggles against his past daily, and thus believes that weak and trusting souls should be protected from the lure and sway of evil.
Bahlzair (Shadowfire)
First seen in: Bahlzair.
Homeland: Ust Natha, Underdark
Race: Drow
Languages: Undercommon/Signed Undercommon (native), Common, Eladrin, Gutteral
Voice: Clear, lowest tone male, but functionally mute
Height: 5'1''
Skin tone: Ebony black
Eyes: Crimson
Hair: Straight, white, mid-thigh length
Physical quirks: Scars that run the length of his jaws, scourge scarring on his back and chest, burns and knife scarring on his hands, strangely long tongue
The secondboy of Matron Irrthrae, the Il'haress of House Hun'ghym, Bahlzair is, due to his former position, one of the extremely rare Drow slaves trained to read, write, manipulate magic and create potions. He underwent vicious torture, culminating in the replacement of his saliva glands with poison ones- eating, drinking and talking all cause him unspeakable pain. Any attempt to figure out his intentions is an exercise in futility- unless the person trying is Aleksei, with whom Bahlzair seems to share a twisted bond.
Familiars:
Niku (Brother, Little Brother, Dog, Hammer)
First seen in: To begin the pilgrimage.
Homeland: Suzail, Cormyr, then Urmlaspyr, Free Sembia
Animal type: Short hair "mastador" type dog
Height: approximately 30''
Fur: Light tan with dark muzzle and ear tips
Eyes: Brown
Physical quirks: Red battle hound tattoo starting from the top of each shoulder and swirling together into a knot work pattern at his midback.
Niku was bred, branded and named Hammer in Suzail by the Sunfire Mercenaries, then sold to a gang leader in Urmlaspyr. He was seen being put out of a suspected witch's home in and was thought to be her familiar. Freed by Silveredge, he has formed a protective bond with her without any encouragement or training. He is nosy, protective, stubborn and sometimes unaware of his weight and size.
Family:
Akmenyn Treva-Lucien (Menye, Treva)
First seen: Darkening path: Loss.
Mi'ishaen's father, Bael Turath's performing assassin. Blackmailed into joining the war effort after killing a guard that was harassing his wife, he was caught by a Dragonborn prince and killed while Mi'ishaen was very young. A strangely patient, calm-spirited male, he would not have joined the war effort at all had he not been forced to do so on pain of the execution of his entire family.
Ceubel Anyka pas-Naja (Anyka)
First referred to by name in The shadow of Shade. Silveredge's younger sister, who was just three years old when her father first tried to sell all four sisters to Shadowfell skin masters. Killed by slavers.
Ceubel Byta pas-Naja (Byta)
First referred to by name in The shadow of Shade. Silveredge's oldest sister, who would have been Svaentok's age, had she lived. Svaentok described her as "physically sound, peaceful, caring- lovely to look at, and worthy to be bought." Like Silveredge's other sisters, she was killed by slavers.
Ceubel
First referred to by name in The shadow of Shade. A Shadar-Kai warrior who believed himself cursed with four daughters and no sons, he betrayed his family to the Spikearm Commune because his wife refused to swear loyalty and compliance to Netheril. He has since remarried, and has two sons.
Iaden Lucien-Azaroth
First seen: Darkening path: Eyes to the blinded.
Mi'ishaen's older brother, a powerful warrior in life, killed in a failed siege against a Dragonborn supply line. He is now a death knight, charged with stripping the Tiefling ancestors of their names so that they cannot be summoned. Shares Mi'ishaen's distaste for magic, and harbors sharp reproach for performers of all kinds, although he was born to a dancer and a juggler. Has a strong fondness for his hand-and-a-half (or bastard) sword, Noc'mala, and will refer to it as a female. Deeply regrets having left his little sister behind to join the war effort, even though he was coerced into doing so.
Imei'ishi (Mei)
First referred to in The darkness in the stone. Seyashen's mother and Mi'ishaen's aunt, who ran off with Vashen without marrying him. A little less magically talented than Seya'ani, but much less bitter, angry and competitive. Also more handsomely curved, and physically stronger than Seya'ani. Trained with rogue Turathi mages as she traveled with Vashen, became a formidable teleportation expert, and was known as half of "The Blight."
Mia'alhim (Mia)
First seen: Darkening path: Eyes to the blinded.
Seyashen's little half-sister, as gifted in illusion as he is in conjuration and necromancy. She commands poor Common, and so speaks Infernal much of the time. She despaired when he ran away from home, and apparently died young. She walked Avernus until she found Iaden, who kept her with him until both entered the Axix of Afflux with Seyashen. It is unclear where her spirit now is.
Seya'ani Azaroth-Ynges
First referred to by name in The darkness in the stone. Mi'ishaen's mother; the family member after which Seyashen was named. Slender, dark eyed and bitter tongued- hot tempered, but effortlessly graceful. Skilled with magic, she was put to work by the Turathi emperor as a court dancer and magician. Killed by a rival performer not long after her husband died.
Seyashen (Ivan, Yasha)
First seen: Let he without horns tell the best lies.
Mi'ishaen's cousin, a necromancy and conjuration savant. He is poor, however, at divination, an art at which his mother excelled. His frustration with his talents, which merit suspicion at best and execution at worst- even in Bael Turath- fermented into a bitter rage that was sparked at his father's execution. He is much better at communicating with the dead than with the living, and has finally begun to come to terms with his gifts in the service of Afflux.
Stonecrusher Kristov and Georgiy Petrovich Voyonov
First referred to by name in Soft eyes. Aleksei's two older brothers. Kristov joined the war effort in his father's place when the Arkhosian army emissaries traveled up into the mountains to find the retired soldier the first time. Georgiy tried to escape being drafted, but was found and forcibly drafted. Both brothers were killed in battle.
Stonecrusher Pyotr Ivonovich Voyonov (Petya, Utets)
First referred to by name in Religiously challenged. Aleksei's father, who originally came from Southern Arkhosia and moved up into the mountains to find his last mate. His wife chastised him for attempting to raise his sons without paying due attention to the fact that they needed to learn to live in the mountains, not on the stony lowlands. Killed in battle.
Vashen (Vash)
First referred to by name in The darkness in the stone. Half of "The Blight," Vashen is Seyashen's father and Mi'ishaen's uncle. He was abandoned by his parents and raised by Human crime lords. Became famous for attacking both Dragonborn and Tiefling camps equally, and believes that all his actions are justified by his desire to end the war at any cost. Publicly hung for his various murders, assaults and counts of destruction of private and public property.
Yelena
First mentioned in An unexpected inheritance, this is Aleksei's elder half-sister, by way of his mother. She was trained by her father to be a blacksmith because she could neither hear nor speak, making her undesirable for marriage. She, in turn, showed Aleksei as much as she could when she noticed that his brothers were not treating him properly.
Aglarond characters:
Arjaa
First seen: Friendly marriages.
The sole Dragonborn guard who stayed with Mi'ishaen throughout her imprisonment in the Dragonborn camp. She is unable to carry a pregnancy full term, but her mate decided to remain married to her. Having always been in her camp, she is curious about the world outside, and about how other family structures function.
Ides Ashok pir-Raz
First referred to in Silverhag, Ashok was Silveredge's master. He was a mediocre mage, but a consummate traveler who originally left the Spikearm Commune in the Shadowfell merely to find his own adventure. He conned people out of their money and forced Silveredge to dance or endure fire spells for public entertainment.
Bakari
First seen: The Possessor.
The first Dragonborn guard that our party meets up with at the far side of the bridge. Long separated from his family and true Arkhosian homeland, this poor guy has lost a great deal of his mother dialect of Draconic, which he calls "plains speak" to differentiate it from Aleksei's mountain dialect.
Dana
First seen: A different kind of experiment.
A Halfling servant to an Eladrin- not magically mind-controlled in any way. She is an excellent dancer, and is nearly manically in love with her master, who speaks to and treats her as though she were a beloved, loyal pet.
Ima and Zasha
First seen: Religiously challenged.
The two Dragonborn females who were studying Bahlzair in the supposed attempt to remove his poison glands. Zasha humanely allowed Bahlzair to sit in manacles instead of trying to return him to a painful position, but Ima pulled a knife when Bahlzair removed his bonds. Zasha has apparently been warned about taking pity on captives before.
Imael
First seen: A different kind of experiment.
An Eladrin master, the rather detached owner of a Sylvan servant. One of the attendees to Syjenge's slave trading and selling party. Unusually interested in Dana.
Liam
First seen: A most unfortunate voyage.
A half-Elf soldier who was very close to Toryn. He is Sadriana's brother, and thus the brother-in-law to Ymilsano.
Mikhail
First seen: The Posessor.
A Dragonborn clan leader who was essentially guiding his people back toward the path of Tiamat. Saw Aleksei's true nature immediately and tried to use mental domination to push his Talon of Tiamat pact to completion. No one in the party- except for Aleksei- is quite sure why he referred to Aleksei as 'Petrinovich' and seemed to consider him his long lost son, a scion of Tiamat.
Syjenge (Syjen)
First seen: At the edge of a spell.
An Eladrin soldier who believes that his talent is wasted on guarding an old, obstinate Avariel. Moonlighted as a slaver.
Tasha
First seen: Sundown in Bhairoset
The Dragonborn guard in Bhairoset that speaks to Mi'ishaen before she and Silveredge leave. She doesn't give the two her name, but is later referred to in the Dragonborn camp as an ally who would turn Bahlzair back around if she caught him trying to enter the city.
Terrance
First seen: Party design flaws.
A little Human boy from Dlusk who had the courage to ask Aleksei what happened to his left eye.
Thene
First seen: A different kind of experiment.
Imael's unfortunate Sylvan slave. She is constantly enchanted into doing things that she naturally would be terrified or at least unwilling to do.
Toryn
First seen: A most unfortunate voyage.
A male Human soldier sent on the boat with our party. Wounded gravely by an unexpected attack, but refused to have Seyashen's magic or potion work cure him.
Uirrigaen (Uirrigan)
First seen: Sociological inquiry, and all that.
The last winged Elf, or Avariel, to be trapped in an ancient city that collapsed as a result of draconic attacks, Uirrigaen was once a magical and scientific chronicler. Spending so much time underground, the captive of the Eladrin whose ancestors once helped his city for a price, has given him a streak of bitterness that seems out of place with an otherwise considerate nature.
Ylyssane (Ylyssa)
First seen: At the edge of a spell.
An Eladrin wise woman trained in cultures and languages, then married to Syjenge to settle a dispute. Was dissatisfied with her marriage and enlisted Mi'ishaen's help, somehow thinking her a witch.
Wernvuuld
First seen: Party design flaws.
The Human captain that agreed to take Mi'ishaen, Silveredge, Aleksei and Seyashen onto his ship, which was carrying a not-so-legal substance at the time. An inept swordsman, he was killed by the much more talented Ymilsano, who won the position of ship's captain away from him without knowing it.
Urmlaspyr characters:
Abethann Illance (The Nameless)
First referred to by name in Prodigal son. The last (and probably illegitimate) daughter of Martin Illance, Abethann was captured by Semmite mages and handed over to Thultanthar at an early age. She was a necromancer in life, and death has apparently only made her skills even better.
Adessa
First seen: Grave messenger
Bethany's Human waiting woman, the only person unafraid enough to remain in her presence without any sort of protection against her continued illness. She is normally patient and silent.
Akrias Shesua
First seen in: Moving out.
Either
a tall Dwarf or a short and hairy Human, this Purple Dragon swordcaptain uses rather uppity language to get his point across. He carries a
higher rank than Karth MacSairlen, and is in charge of bringing Aleksei
to Battlemage Ranclyffe as a captive.
Amilie Bejart (Lishka, Ami, Hag, Moondew)
First seen: Dirty honor.
A Human street walker with residence in Petey's Peppered Pots, nearly abducted by the Stingers. Raised in Daerlun by her mother and grandmother, she is a talented herbalist and is capable of some magic. While sober, she is relatively mild-mannered and almost lacks confidence in abilities that aren't used in the bedroom. She had been "converted" to the worship of Pelor, but Aleksei gave her enough courage to return to the worship of Ehlonna.
Aric (Shepherd Aric, Owain)
First seen: Aric.
The
male Human leader of the worship center for the Raven Queen- which
happens to be settled in the city's catacombs. Originally from Cormyr.
Once a ruthless necromancer, he was converted from the service of
Afflux to the Raven Queen's worship on his deathbed, and is now
registered with the Merchant's Council as an "enlightened warlock." A
face full of scars and a pronounced limp are all that remains of his
brush with death. Fosters a deep friendship with Vhalan, with whom he
performed a sacred pact with the Raven Queen in the effort to keep him
from devolving into a mindless, feral vampire.
Arnsvold Erantun
First seen: Inaction spoke louder.
The Dwarven representative of the docks in the Merchant's Council. He is a former guard of Urmlaspyr, having served with Pohatkon and Luvec. He's also rather stubborn, and gets into confrontations with Master Ranclyffe quite often.
Tardagh Arlwynna pas-Dhamaina (Arlwynna, Wyn, Wynnie)
First mentioned by name in From the ashes.
The
product of a Drow and Dhamaina, Arlwynna departed from her parents'
insistence on the Dark Seladrine and chose the more surface Elven
tradition of ancestor worship. She is a good alchemist, but drew the
Phoenix's attention for practicing divination, which may have given them
the (mistaken) impression that she is a Shadow Child. She is in love
with a female Cormyran armorer, making her "aberrant" and worthy of
stoning in the eyes of the Urmlaspyr people. While she is dark skinned
like her Drow father, Pharen claims that she looks "damnably Netherese."
Baruk (Brother Baruk)
First seen: On a strap.
A
cleric of Saint Cuthbert, this male once was part of the coalition that
was supposed to destroy Vhalan's sire. He favors fine clothing and is judgmental, but physicallyweak.
Bethany Illance (Beth)
First seen: Grave messenger.
A Human female, the wife of Master Illance. She has been unwell for more than a year, and has lost all four of her children. She can see the spirits- a possible result of her lingering so close to death for a prolonged period of time- but cannot communicate with them.
Betzal
First seen: Who the shadow chooses.
A large raven who at times can be considered Aric's familiar. He goes where he wishes, but normally comes when Aric calls him and returns to Aric's company when he has finished his business.
Cephas
First seen: Grave messenger.
Dale's Human father. He works in the market, packaging fish for a stall owner who calls him "boy" and clearly doesn't respect him. Disallowed his wife from naming their one living child "Fever twin," as it would have reminded her of the second child, which she lost.
Daiirdra (Dai)
First referred to in Grave messenger. Dale's mother and Cephas's wife. Possibly a Tiefling straight from Bael Turath, as Cephas referred to Seyashen as her countryman. Has lost two children; Dale is the only one of her offspring to survive birth. She sold flowers, when she was well.
Dale (Dilly-Dale)
First seen: Grave messenger.
Young daughter to Cephas and Daiirdra, this Tiefling girl sells handpicked flowers to help her father afford the medicine her mother needs to survive a failed pregnancy. She is very polite, and has an eye for both perfection and good character.
Darelove
First seen: Second time around.
A mercurial Human Firebird archer, Darelove often mouths off before she understands the full situation. Although she respects the Firebird vampire and werewolf, she has no love for other undead or changed creatures.
Dark (Rashiira, the She, She, Mama)
First seen: Spectre
The Tiefling director of Spectre, she offers rogues free operation in Urmlaspyr and Cormyr in exchange for information and loyalty. An accomplished acrobat and short sword mistress, she can hold her own in a fight, but would rather negotiate her way out of it- and making allies of her adversaries would be a definite plus. Claims that she is only as close to her operatives as they prefer her to be, and does not put operatives on assignments in which they do not willingly wish to take part, even if they are the best for the job. She is the only Specre operative that works without abiding by the witness rule.
Dheirdre
First seen: From the ashes.
Semnemac's marmalade cat, reputed to be more than thirty years old. No one in the Bone College is quite sure whether she has been reanimated, transmutated, or if she is simply an eternally young cat. According to Kaionne, she appreciates a good chat over tuna.
Deadriver
First seen: In the threads.
The leader, or "big papa" of the Firebirds, a migrant band of mages, thieves and talented people of all kinds. A lenient Eladrin with dreadlocks and a casual, nearly playful, disrespect for authority figures. He does have a great deal of respect for many deities, the Raven Queen included, and requests that the Firebirds treat those with other beliefs with honor.
Divan and Selvien
First seen: Spectre.
Two Spectre operatives sent to try Mi'ishaen's martial abilities for Dark. Divan merely got a concussion, but Selvien got himself killed. Mi'ishaen is technically Selvien's replacement within the organization.
Dove
First seen- sort of- in Her eye was on her Sparrow, this is Thunder and Sparrow's mother. She died at the hands of Semmite slavers, and Semnemac offered to embody her so that she might communicate with her children. She dislikes the pain this causes Semnemac, however, and does not take as much advantage of the situation as could have been expected.
Dragon
First referred to in Chessmaster's queen, Dragon is one of Spectre's paymasters. Dragon also doubles as a fence, taking in items and money for Dark.
Dredge
First seen: A prince among pirates.
This vitamin-deficient Human male is a messenger and servant in Ymilsano's crew. He, like the rest of the men aboard, is struggling to learn proper spoken Common, and cannot read at all. Sharp and observant, however, he notices that he keeps seeing the same messenger at the Urmlaspyr docks, and that the messenger will not give any details about the sender.
Dresan Hawke and Lord Hawke
First awkwardly referred to in Co-conspirators, Dresan is Lord Hawke's "pet mage;" he is only occasionally referred to by his own name. He leads the Phoenix, a formerly Elf-only coven of mages dedicated to the preservation of magic and mages. He is Master Ranclyffe's only son. Lord Hawke, whose last name he took, is often away fighting various battles. She is referred to as a government-sanctioned pirate by Ymilsano, and is something of a city hero.
Eagle (Tessa, Tessi)
First seen: Dodging.
Now an emissary of The Only, this vampire was once a member of Spectre. She has an amicable relationship with Stitches, and accuses Dark of spoiling him. She is a useful informer and a dangerously versatile archer.
Eiko
First seen: Darkening path: Loss.
The daughter of a chieftain who believes that all magic is from Baator, this Human natural psion was tattooed, exiled and had her tongue cut out at an early age. Although she appeared in the Axis of Afflux, she is not dead. She displays strong affection for Seyashen.
Eraghwyn
First referred to in Magic in the stone, this dedicant to the Raven Queen's service is in love with a Drow female who worships Lolth (or Lloth, if you're Drow). He put out a dish of blood at the young woman's request, and was seized by the Urmlaspyr city guard, who thought he might be the Rooftop Reaver.
Engus
First referred to in Spectre, Engus was the Dwarf who spearheaded the revolt against allowing Esvele Greycastle to command Darkness. He succeeded, and the faction of Darkness that revolted with him became Spectre.
Enmech
First seen: On a strap.
The vampire fighter that tricked Brother Baruk into being his pet cleric. He commanded three other vampire mages.
Faera
First seen: Stung.
An Elven woman native to the Dalelands who sports a moon-shaped cut in one shoulder. Was held captive by the Stingers until Aleksei barged into their cells. She is a natural leader, and assumed a council seat on behalf of the Eastern Quarter.
Fairwillow
First seen: Stung.
A plucky Human Firebird mage who experienced the Nameless nightmares. She is originally from Urmlaspyr, and notes that the town has gotten worse than she remembers leaving it. Captured by the Stingers, she owes her life to Aleksei. She is one of Deadriver's consorts.
Ganturaz
First referred to in Reaching neutrality, Ganturaz is Nithraz's full-blooded Orc father. He died as High Captain during the war with Sembia. He also oversaw the imprisonment of three women suspected of being Netherese witches, who were all sent to their deaths; he regretted that decision.
Gimago
First referred to by name in An appointment, Gimago is a young Human male who serves the Merchant Council as a messenger. He is as familiar with Mimsa as Gwen is with Pohatkon. Plans to leave the service of the Council with Gwen, but hasn't made sufficient money to do so as yet. It appears that without the control of Master Ranclyffe, Gimago would be mistreated by Mimsa.
Graz'zt
First seen: Infection.
A nine foot tall demon lord who sports six black horns on his head and six digits on each hand and foot. Nevertheless, he is effortlessly handsome, and knows it. He appears to Bahlzair and addresses the Drow as 'Shadowfire.' He enjoys tempting creatures- usually by sending telepathic suggestions that can be mistaken for their own thoughts.
Greenstar (Torquin)
First seen: Second time around.
A Firebird best known for his incredible divination and soothsaying talents, this Elven male can often be caught munching on a psychedelic of some sort. Has a very high tolerance level for death and gore- it seems that he is comfortable enough with it to completely ignore it. Knew Master Ranclyffe when he was much younger.
Gwen (Gwenydd)
First seen: The diagnosis.
A young Halfling employed by the Merchant Council as a messenger. Knows Pohatkon much more intimately than the other messengers, as though she has had to deal with him more often. Is carrying on a secretive relationship with Gimago, since neither one of them has made enough money to leave the service of the Council.
Hammer
First seen: Spectre.
A rather hairy Dwarven woman, and the mate to Engus. Her workshop is said to have been built around her for her 125th birthday. She is all business, and can calculate any armor or weapon's value in moments. Unlike most other Spectre operatives, she has kept the same "outside name" for the entirety of her time with the organization.
Illiam (Illie) and Valryn (Ryn)
First seen: Dirty honor.
Illiam is the product of a Human and a Drow; she acts and looks relatively Human. From Dahst, her Common is heavily accented and difficult for others to follow. Valryn is a Drow male who has obviously spent a bit of time away from the Underdark. His Common is perfect, as is his fondness for Illiam, and while he still clings to a few Drow prejudices, he is mostly the cultured product of the Dark Quarter of Urmlaspyr. Together, this pair runs the Patched Petticoat, the tavern where Udala worked and Aleksei took up brief residence.
Imylshalee
First seen: Shadow fire.
A Drow assassin, working for Nedstra. She is not part of House Dhuurniv, and was rather low on the totem pole, despite her talent and focus. She is relatively young and very beautiful, much to Bahlzair's chagrin.
Ironfeather (Kennig)
First seen: Magic in the stone.
A warrior initiate of the Raven Queen, Ironfeather was born to a Firebird father who decided to remain in Urmlaspyr to raise him. While he was taught the Firebird sigil, most of the other tribal ways are lost to him.
James
First seen: Teatime.
Cephas's bitter elder brother. Was captured by slavers and tortured until Cormite soldiers came to release him. He has been disabled ever since. Cephas himself escaped capture simply because he had not shown up to work that morning, a fact that still angers James to this day.
Jindranae
First seen: Inaction spoke louder.
The Eladrin representative of the Elven Quarter for the Merchant's Council. She is not always as practical as could be hoped, and Master Ranclyffe tends to remind her rather sharply about needful details. She is a close friend- or as close as is possible- to Master Ranclyffe.
Kaionne (Grand Torturer, Lady Kaionne, Kai)
First seen: From the ashes.
The
Shifter mate of Semnemac, Kaionne's title is more of an honorific than
an actual position within the College. She is a dreamsight Shifter, and
is very patient with her less-than-sane mate. She tends to refer to
all the travelers, seekers and questioners as cubs- but noticeably, not
pups.
Karth MacSairlen
First seen: Co-conspirators.
A Human male, a formerly a Firstsword, now a Roadcaptain of the Purple Dragons of Cormyr. As a Firstsword, he was assigned to the docks of Urmlaspyr as part of the small occupation that Cormyr has had in the city since the truce with Sembia.
Keraaven and Aime'eri
First seen: Grave messenger.
Daiirdra's father and great-great-great-great grandmother, respectively- both deceased. Dale claims that these are the only two members of Daiirdra's family that she and Cephas know. Aime'eri is old enough to have been around for the original Turathi pact with the demons, but apparently escaped Baator in death because she was "so nice."
Kisha
Referred to by name in Shadow fire, this House Darkness assassin was killed by Bahlzair.
Luvec Perth
First seen: Inaction spoke louder.
Once an excellent swordsman who fought with Pohatkon against the Semmites and Shadovar, Luvec later abandoned his post after discovering the corruption within the guard. Rae Silus is his daughter.
Mara (Buela Mara)
First referred to in Grave messenger, this old Human woman is Cephas and James's mother. She hates the fact that Cephas has married a Tiefling, although her entire family speaks what seems to be a terrible patois of Infernal.
Master Illance
First referred to in Chessmaster's Queen. A hat maker from Cormyr, of the noble house of the same name. While he refers to Martin Illance as his grandfather, House Illance is well known for the diversity of its family members. Abethann Illance would have been his aunt, had she lived, making Te'valshath his cousin.
Micharkiira Ardulacise
First referred to in Shadow fire, this Drow female is responsible for some of Bahlzair's scarring.
Mimsa
First seen: Inaction spoke louder.
The Human representative of the Mage's District, she is quite young and full of attitude. The Dwarf and Eladrin that share the Council with her rarely actually listen to her at all, and she tends to write her missives with unnecessary flourish.
Miryam (Mimsie)
First seen in: Grave messenger.
The steward for the Illance house in Urmlaspyr, originally from Dahst. An older Human woman, she has learned to clean up for her superiors, and has even taken on some of Master Illance's views on those who have less than they do.
Miye
First mentioned by name in From the ashes, Miye is the spirit that caught Seyashen's attention in the Urmlaspyr city graveyard. While Pharen first coupled with her by force, she stubbornly decided that he would have to deal with her for the rest of her life. She was a Netherese Shadar-kai mage, and was put to death for no other reason than that, once the Phoenix convinced Pharen to turn her in to the Cormites.
Nedstra
First seen: Shadow fire.
A Drow assassin, daughter of a relative of Matron Mother Dhuurniv. Had a sweet tooth and left her quarters filthy, often thinking of something else. Treated her associates, Drow or not, like garbage.
Nithraz
First seen: Reaching neutrality.
The new High Captain of Urmlaspyr, promoted by the Merchants' Council after Bahlzair killed his predecessor. Inexperienced and self-righteous yet awkward, the half-Orc had a hard time managing the security of the city.
Ntoru
First seen: Co-conspirators.
Netherese Shadar-kai (from a Netherese noble and his consort) from Sembia. Is known for being concerned with any activity referencing Shadar-kai or Thultanthar influence in the city- and for her various piercings, odd outfits and her mostly-shaved head. Her blood-red tiarnai face tattoo does not indicate her true status.
Oakarm (Oak)
First seen: In the threads.
A young Firebird messenger, training to be a staff wielder. He has multiple animal tattoos. As Vhalan candidly points out, neither his willpower nor his fighting stance are very strong.
Perry
First referred to by name in Stung, Perry was the most current leader of the Stingers. However, as the Stingers are extremely chaotic and mostly mob-ruled anyway, Fairwillow explained that he was simply the least insane of everyone else.
Peth
First seen: Shadow fire.
This Human House Darkness assassin is one of Imylshalee's go-to people for getting things done above ground. She has little concept of Drow society, and wonders at Imylshalee's surprise that Kisha's killer was male.
Pharen
First seen: From the ashes.
An Eladrin mage who had been one of the founding members of the Phoenix. He holds the belief that Corellon Larethian made a mistake in giving magic to Humans- according to him, only Elves should be able to practice. His great granddaughter Arlwynna awakened his spirit by choosing him as her patron ancestor.
Pohatkon Sakoda (Ser Sadist)
First seen: Co-conspirators.
A Human male whose first love is causing others pain. Once a soldier in the war against Sembia, he has been in the Urmlaspyr jail and the torture room so long that he has been passed over for promotion multiple times. He is an archer of considerable talent, and dislikes wielding swords.
Pox
First seen: Chessmaster's queen.
An older Human male, this Spectre operative dislikes Stitches and will not wear the armor that he makes. He deeply believes that Stitches will one day turn on Dark. Old-fashioned, he also suggests that Dark get a mate and have a natural child. He works with various infections and diseases, and is thus Spectre's bio-warfare expert.
Quilafae (Sister Quilafae, Quila)
First seen: The gang's all lurking nearby.
A
Drow female in the Raven Queen's worship center, training in the
warrior path. As such, she answers to Shanna and Vhalan. Her raven
companion, Vashte, always seems to have problems settling with her
mistress.
Robynette (Shepherdess Robynette)
First mentioned by name in Who the Shadow chooses.
The Shepherd who founded the coven that Aric now leads. Wishing to
address the attachment of the coven members to the Shepherd, she wrote
and added a benediction to the morning chant, so that the Shepherd would
daily bless and say goodbye to the coven members.
Saoria (Riashka)
First seen: Dirty Honor.
A Human street walker who normally works near Petey's Peppered Pots, Saoria runs to Aleksei when she realizes that she does not hear Amilie singing in the street near her.
Sakhma and Shanna
First referred to by name in Magic in the stone. Shanna
is a head mistress of sorts for the warrior initiates of Urmlaspyr's
Raven Queen coven while Sakhma is in charge of the mage initiates. Both
of them are on the same command tier as Svaentok, but the three have
cultured a healthy interdisciplinary respect among their dedicants and
initiates. While Aric will refer to her as "Sister Shanna," most others
will give her the elder's title.
Semnemac (Master Inquisitor, Master Semnemac, Alpha)
First seen: Who the Shadow chooses.
The
Halfling leader of the cult of Afflux, housed in the Bone College,
which stands just a few blocks away from the center of town. Commonly
dresses in winding sheets meant for the dead. A great friend to Aric,
who once studied with him. Always seems to be in a hurry, or two steps
in front of whomever he is with, this brilliant wizard flies on the
not-so-sane side rather often due to the strain of allowing spirits to
use his entire being. Like Seyashen, he can see and speak with the dead
just as easily, if not more so, than the living. Is the mate of the
Grand Torturer, and is vegetarian.
Silent
First referred to in Chessmaster's queen, this Spectre operative is assigned to the Urmlaspyr city graveyard, and is a follower of the Raven Queen. Aric is aware of his assignment, apparently, yet allows him to remain- this may be due to the Raven Queen's neutrality, a quality which she shares with many Spectre operatives.
Smokedog
First referred to by name in In the threads. A werewolf Firebird, high-voltage attitude with a mouth to match. He is brazenly disrespectful, especially when just coming down from a shift into beast form. However irritating he is to others, he is the jealous partner to his fellow Firebird, Snakesoul.
Snakesoul
First seen in: Second time around.
A vampiric Firebird, very silent and patient mate to the short-tempered Smokedog. She is fiercely protective and loyal, and is believed by the other Firebirds to have "punched through" a feral vampiric stage to a more stable existence beyond it. As she rarely speaks and has few racial characteristics, no one is sure what her original race was.
Sofiya (Soulbow Sofiya Fedotyevna Atlasova, Honorbow)
First seen in Stung. A Dragonborn arcane archer, Sofiya was captured by the Stingers many years ago, and was presumed dead. She is nearly as talented as Eagle, although all Spectre operatives are careful not to proffer her as a replacement. She was freed from Stinger control by Aleksei, whom she left to an honorable death- or at least she thought she did.
Spark
First referred to in Chessmaster's queen. Spectre operative who doesn't seem to be from Urmlaspyr. A female of some sort whose invisibility is permanent. She casts a prestidigitation spell on herself to make her shape visible, but still appears like an apparition instead of an actual living being. Is a mental manipulator, and enjoys comfortably watching her targets destroy each other, knowing they won't be able to see and destroy their puppet master.
Sparrow and Thunder
First seen in: Sister's keeper.
Orphans of a Dark Quarter woman who was abducted by Semmite slavers. They live in the streets, since the orphanage refuses to take in Dark Quarter orphans.
Steeleye
First referred to in Second time around, this fearless Dwarf is "aberrant" and proud. Darelove, a fellow Firebird, notes that if he realized the worsening situation for aberrant couples in Urmlaspyr, he would take his husband to the center of town and hold a revival meeting.
Stitches
First seen: Spectre. A heavily burned, jumpy Drow male, Stitches is a very talented armorer who apparently wills enchantment into his work. He has sustained major mind flayer damage under Dhuurniv control, and thus flees away from loud noise. He occasionally falls into hour-long fits during which he will only be able to lie down and twitch.
Stone (Sir Tenderheart)
First seen: Spectre.
A full blooded Orc, this massive tattooed killer is a Spectre operative. While he carries himself like a common thug and is famously curt, his streetwise skills and easy bluffing makes him an even more dangerous opponent. He was assigned to work in a sort of tag team or task force with Mi'ishaen, due to how new she is to Spectre. He is faintly moral, much to Mi'ishaen's surprise, and according to Dark, was once part of a temple.
Sul Byn-Aarak
First seen: Darkening path: Torture.
The necromancer responsible for writing To Conquer the Divide. He appears in the Axis of Afflux to champion the unquestioned command of the dead, as opposed to Seyashen's passive acceptance of their presence. While banished from the Axis of Afflux by Iaden, it is likely that he still exists elsewhere.
Sulyic
First seen- sort of- in Who the Shadow chooses, Sulyic was the
Shepherd, or leader of the Raven Queen coven in Urmlaspyr, immediately
previous to Aric. Briefly possessed Seyashen in an effort to keep him
from desecrating sacred burial ground.
Svaentok (Yrel Svaentok pir-Ades, Yrel-Ades, Brother Svaentok, Elder Svaentok)
First seen: Casing.
An
evolved Shadar-kai (Human decent) from the Eboneye Commune, first born son of House Yrel-Ades.
Marked with a crimson tiarnai d'daor face tattoo as well as multiple
master ring piercings, as befit his rank in the Shadowfell. A feared
warrior and slave trainer, he was converted to the faith of the Raven
Queen after breaking through the Shadowfell to the Material Plane in
pursuit of Thultanthar mages fleeing his wrath. He is still very much a
sensual creature, a confusing fact considering that he is the elder of
the monastic initiates in Urmlaspyr's worship center for the Raven Queen.
Sweetheart
First referred to in Chessmaster's queen, this Spectre operative is often misgendered, causing allies to step in with the correct pronouns. She is one of the people responsible for paying Spectre operatives, and also serves as one of their alchemy contacts.
Terrence (Terry) and Officer Rae Silus [nee: Perth]
First mentioned and seen in Ice Heart. Terrence works a stall in the market while Rae, a third generation guard, works with the Urmlaspyr city guard. Terrence taught his wife to crochet, and is considered a bit of a softie by his wife.
Te'valshath Illance (The Nameless)
First named in Prodigal son. The unborn daughter of Abethann Illance, this little spirit loves nothing better than to wreck havoc on Cormites, whom she blindly blames for her mother's death. While her mother was merely trying to get a message to House Illance, Te'valshath would have preferred to simply destroy it. Like her mother, the entire city of Urmlaspyr is her focus.
The Only (Lucien, the Pale Lord of Urmlaspyr)
First referred to in Dodging. A seven hundred year old vampire who was the subject of a paladin invasion that would have uncovered Spectre-controlled territory. Eagle, who was part of Dark's response to the possible discovery, set up her team in his coffin-room, and accidentally mingled blood with him when he awoke and took part in the attack. He helped to defend Urmlaspyr from Thultanthar and Sembia during the war. Lucien shares vampiric parentage with Vhalan, and as a dire wolf vampire, considers him a far-flung member of his pack.
Thorn and Clover
Thorn is first referred to in Chessmaster's queen, while Clover is first referred to in Best laid plans. Thorn is Spectre operative whose crushed wrist put him out of commission, prompting Eagle to replace him temporarily. He was posted on the inside of the Urmlaspyr border. Clover, his counterpart, is posted on the outside of the Urmlaspyr border.
Torvold
First seen: Set in our ways.
The Dwarf who runs a tavern and inn just a few blocks away from his wife's stalls on Urmlaspyr's port. Lost a drinking contest with Aleksei. Keeps a battleaxe under his bar, a fact which annoys his wife no end.
Trelawynen (Wyn)
First seen: Dirty honor.
An old Sylvan archer for the Urmlaspyr guard. Originally from the Dalelands, Trelawynen is notably missing the Elven marriage honorific name addition, even though he's known to be hundreds of years old. Has set his intentions on discovering how Aleksei can be an obvious drunk and still be so well liked by others; Aleksei claimed he asks questions to which he does not really want answers.
Trizelle Ranclyffe (Master Ranclyffe, Gospozha Ranclyffe, Trizzi)
First seen: A loyalty to the disloyal.
An older Human female ultimate magus, Trizelle is normally called by her title more out of fear than actual respect. This is interesting, as most mages- even her students- consider her practically senile. She is far from it, but uses people's ignorance as a means to avoid dealing with them. She is noticeably antisocial, demanding and blunt- a combination that makes it miraculous that she managed to have a child at all. She is the daughter of a Cormite battle mage.
Udala Njenkoru (Udalka, Hop, Marrowfire)
First seen: Dirty honor.
A Halfling street walker for the Patched Petticoat. Having taken an immediate delight in Aleksei, who is drastically larger than she is, she temporarily moved from her room in the tavern to shack up with him and Amilie. Shockingly enough, she can serve as a stone mason, and has quite a few tools.
Ulwen
First seen: Casing.
The guard who first apprehended Mi'ishaen for the murder of the high captain of the guard in Urmlaspyr. Was referred to by name by a guard who attempted to arrest Silveredge for prostitution, then later by Karth.
Vashte
First seen: The gang's all lurking nearby.
A raven not quite as large as Betzal, she serves as a companion. Never at peace while with Quilafae, she has found a better perch in Vhalan, although he seems less than pleased with her poking holes in his various things with her talons.
Velryne
First seen: Infection.
Velryne is a priestess of Lloth (or Lolth, if you aren't Drow) who was present mainly to keep an eye on Nedstra, who would not adhere to proper Drow strictures at all otherwise. She has a problem with gluttony, and often ignores many standards herself. She is fairly distant from the goddess she claims to serve.
Vhalan (Brother Vhalan, Elder Vhalan, Brother Timoteus)
First seen: To begin the pilgrimage.
Once a Human cleric, Vhalan is now a vampire living with the Raven Queen cult led by Aric. He is a gifted painter and sculptor. Vhalan killed his vampiric sire as part of a quest that none of the rest of the followers of Saint Cuthbert would finish, not knowing that he had been infected in the process. He and Aric worked to limit and manage his early stages of feral vampirism via a pact between each other and the Raven Queen, but in spite of their efforts, there were dangerous losses of self-control during which he would turn on any living being near him.
Wendre
First mentioned in Dirty Honor, Wendre is a half-Eladrin barmaid who is known for her light, happy nature. She was stolen by the Stingers, and although she escaped, she lost two toes and most of her right hand's first finger.
Whisper
First seen: Wicked things.
This Human is one of Dark's messengers, responsible for intercepting and relaying information on behalf of Spectre. He speaks Aleksei's dialect naturally, without using any spells or potions. Like other Spectre messengers, he is warded against magical detection.
Ygroff
Mentioned by name in Reaching neutrality, he is a prison inmate who attempted to touch Mi'ishaen inappropriately and got his fingers crushed against his cell bars by a hoof in response.
Ymilsano DiCiprione (Jackal)
First referred to by name in Wicked things, this was one of the soldiers on the ship that originally brought Aleksei, Mi'ishaen and Silveredge to Urmlaspyr. He was the one responsible for killing the ship's captain, which led the crew to accept him as the new captain. After holding elections for new name possibilities, the ship is now called the Princess Gildenglade.
Cormyr characters:
Adassa (Sassy Dassy) and Aaron (Ronny) Raibeart
Mentioned in Keen focus, Aaron and Adassa are elder brother and sister to Iordyn. Adassa, the sister born immediately before Iordyn, is now a tattooed, drinking, cursing pirate. Aaron is a very single minded Blue Dragons officer who is loving and protective- when properly reminded to be. Stephen notes that he and Adassa were to Iordyn what Saul and Sarai now are to Sylvester.
Aleth
The demonologist, mentioned in Blessing of the Inferno, who attempted to summon a demon for his tendencies of infernal magic study. In return for insight, Aleth offered the patron demon Trizelle- without telling her. Asmodeus himself took great offense at the way she was forced to reproduce for a lesser demon without her prior knowledge or consent, and took Aleth's life as punishment for putting together such a shoddy contract.
Amadelle
First seen: Blessed be the ties.
Some noble's little girl, Amadelle is enamored of both Niku and his sire, Krumiri. She prompts Howler to recognize that Niku answers better to the name he has most recently been given, and promises to visit him.
Audrynae Sloop (Audryna)
Mentioned in Darkening Path 2:D Shadowed House, this is one of the ladies being required by "R."
Blade Andrej Hophni and Dame Hophni
First referred to by name in Harmony, this coward was one of the guards attached to Aleksei. He had a wife, who demanded restitution for his death, and threatened to bring a formal, public suit against Iordyn unless she were paid as soon as possible. After witnessing a trial by the Way of the Bow, however, her spirit is stunned.
Bann Kylsohn (Swordmajor Kylsohn)
First seen: Sunburned.
This self assured mercenary is part of the triumvirate that runs the Sunfire Mercenaries. He is the face of the group, as evidenced by the fact that he contacted Silveredge on behalf of the company. He is also the organization's paymaster, as evidenced by Kronmyr's demand for a higher pay rate. A scheming Human- it was his idea to keep multiple sale and business journals. He is a former Purple Dragon officer, and befriended Garett Thom there.
Cloud
First seen: Enemy ours.
A Gnome operative for the Coalwater Mercenaries, she is actually of the same type as Mi'ishaen. Mi'ishaen, however, is better than she is at actual combat, which she proved by nearly beating her to a pulp in Greyscale's office.
Cypher (Dortana)
First seen: Notes.
A brilliant Human code-cracker, who is unfortunately rather impatient and blunt. Runs the Coalwater Mercenaries along with Greyscale.
Dan
First seen: The wake-up encounter.
This Human barbarian "leads" a mercenary band whose counselor is never listened to. He is painfully inexperienced, and jumps to combat without really understanding the ramifications.
Deryn and Kuhloch (Kullie)
Although referred to previously, this mother and son are first seen in The Wake-up Encounter. Deryn is the owner of the tavern in which Hai Shui has taken residence, and was the one with whom Sergeant Cindrezi corresponded. Kuhloch is often made fun of and beat up by other children in the neighborhood. Neither one seems all that educated when they speak.
Drussandra Ranclyffe (Druce)
First seen in Sweet mother, Druce is Master Trizelle Ranclyffe's mother. She is not a mage herself, and credits her children's magical skill to their father. She has little use for titles, but makes use of her wealth and can speak more than just Common. While she is less severe than her elder daughter has become, it is obvious that her headstrong nature was passed down.
Etiol
Mentioned in Seared soul, this red dragon is a former consort of Tiamat herself. Aleksei claimed that his "blood ran" for him, or in his name, which convinced an inherently evil weapon to attempt to attach itself to him.
Eunice
First seen in Sweet mother, Eunice is Battlemage Ranclyffe's assistant. Although law and war wizard rule stands against the practice, she tends to cast divination spells on targets without duly notifying them.
Battlemage Erylanae Beausace
The Marsemban battlemage who corresponds with Terezio Ranclyffe in Darkening Path 2: A Slow March. Karri Nglend, and by extension, her two sons, belong to her house. It seems that the entire house is familiar with Terezio, as Erylanae requests to be brought closer into confidence about Terezio's research and also allows Karri to send Terezio a personal hope for Drussandra's improved health.
Federico, Ludovico and Teresa Ranclyffe (Feddi, Ludo and Tessa)
All Drussandra and Terezio's children, brothers and sister to Master Trizelle Ranclyffe. They are mentioned in Sweet mother. While Federico and Ludovico are both in service to Cormyr, Teresa "ran off to be a druid." Drussandra notes that Teresa disliked being in her older sister's shadow.
Fhionne
First referred to in Springing the trap, this Human Cormite (or Cormyrean) woman was courted, but then utterly destroyed by Howler. She was the second woman to die due to Howler's attempts to mate, and word of her death somehow got back to Rancelair Illance's ears.
Oversword Julian Garimond (Oversword Garimond)
First seen: The rebirth of Iordyn Raibeart the Virtuous.
A high-ranking Purple Dragon of the generation of Iordyn's late grandfather, this elder can still move and shoot like a much younger man. He and Battlemage Ranclyffe are of similar ages, and are thus evenly matched in some disagreements. He is an excellent diplomat and wordsmith; much more polished than his age-mate.
Greyscale (Yulian)
First seen: Notes.
The Dragonborn who runs the Coalwater Mercenaries along with his partner, Cypher. He is much more slender than Aleksei. He can wrestle, and often defeats his opponents with finishing submission holds.
Hai Shui
First mentioned in Darkening Path 2:A Slow March, Hai Shui is an aging Shou who has not left the tavern whose back table he has occupied since the end of the conflict between Sembia/Thultanthar and Cormyr. No one is certain why he is there, but he is incredibly good at fighting while inebriated, and he knows of Master Kwai.
Howler/Lykan Gan (the beast, Garett Thom)
First seen: Dual rogue.
Howler is the overall beast master for the Sunfire Mercenaries, breeding, maintaining and branding all the battle hounds. Lykan Gan is the name the other Sunfire Mercenaries give to his werewolf form, which he only calls "the beast." While he is a very strong part of the Sunfire Mercs, he is not one of its true leaders.
Ielena Raibeart (Leena)
First mentioned by name in Called shot, this is the second child of Yeshua and Hanna Raibeart. Ielena is the very quiet mother of two boys, and the wife to Finn, whom Stephen says is nearly as big as he. They live out in the Tunlands. Ielena makes intricate tapestries in order to earn money, and Stephen notes that the one she sent Susanna was so beautiful that she cried.
Iona Raibeart (the Preacher)
A death and damnation preaching monk first mentioned by name in Called shot, this is the fourth child of Yeshua and Hanna Raibeart. In response to the infidelity of his intended fiancee, he left his home town and took the vows of Tyr, the strongest his brother Stephen has ever heard. He apparently disapproves of all his sisters as well as his sister in law.
Iordyn Raibeart the Younger (Iordi, Uncle Iordi, Young Ser Raibeart)
An Order of the Bow initiate from Marsember, Cormyr first seen in Sibling Rivalry. He is a devout follower of Lathander, and can exasperate even his family with the way he holds to the law and his beliefs.
Jonas
One of the servant boys in The Dragon's Jaws, he brought up water for Silveredge and Mi'ishaen and wasn't paid for the service. Mi'ishaen instead told him to steal it; he calls her a mean old witch. He and his brother are in Occupational hazards.
Karri Nglend
First mentioned in Darkening Path 2:A Slow March, Karri is one of the personal servants of Battlemage Erylanae Beausace, and is obviously one of the most hard-working and loyal of the crew. She is remarked upon as "resourceful," and has two sons, Kirk and Lamar. It appears that the man who is the father of these boys was not as nice to Karri as one would hope.
Katrina Ironcastle
Mentioned in Darkening Path 2:D Shadowed House, this is one of the people being required by "R."
Kim
First seen: The wake-up encounter.
Kim is the Drow cleric in Dan's mercenary band, and is usually the most rational of the bunch. Unfortunately, she constantly has Merri nay-saying her, and Dan overruling her counsel.
Kronmyr
First seen: Trapping the bait.
This nimble male Drow hails straight from the Underdark, and has made his way into the triumvirate of the Sunfire Mercenaries. He has a habit of putting his chairs and his co-workers off balance, and obviously believes himself to be a cut above everyone else around him. While he teases both Howler and Mordren viciously, and displays precious little respect for Bann, it's obvious that he takes his work in the Sunfire Mercs seriously. He is responsible for the physical training for the group.
Krumiri (Thunder)
First seen in Blessed be the ties, this large, thirteen year old mastiff-type dog belonged first to the Sunfire Mercenaries, but was retired to a happy, domestic home when he was no longer able to hold on to the prey that he was trying to bring down. He was Niku's sire.
Lishrae
First seen in The wanderer's first steps, although she was referenced earlier, this beautiful blonde woman is paid to share Rafa's physical attention with Karri, and has quite a negative opinion of her. In addition to street walking, she also participates in illicit alchemic usage, to which she has invited Rafa.
Magister Ivonne Der Lang
First referred to by name in Verdicts, although she was seen earlier. This is Mordren's very quiet, very private, and somewhat bitter wife. It seems to be common knowledge that she and Mordren are rarely, if ever, intimate.
Master Kwai
Aleksei mentions this person in Seared soul. He knows about the mantra that Aleksei uses, and Hai Shui seems to claim that he is in Westgate.
Merri
First seen: The wake-up encounter.
Merri is a half-Elf archer travelling with Dan's mercenary band. She seems to have a problem with Kim, however, and never lets her actually get any good counsel in edge-wise. She is a miserable archer.
Sergeant Mhai Cindrezi
Battlemage Erylanae's correspondent in Daerlun (now called Freed Daerlun, since it belongs neither to Cormyr nor to Sembia), who faced Hai Shui with the benefit of his entire guard. He and his soldiers were all soundly beaten by the one man. He is not especially learned, and has difficulty writing his letter himself. First mentioned in Darkening Path 2:A Slow March.
Magister Mordren Der Lang (Mordy)
First seen: Trapping the bait.
Mordren is a clean shaven, fresh-faced Human mage, and a part of the triumvirate that runs the Sunfire Mercenaries. He is the group's go-to seducer, whether the necessary manipulation be physical or magical in nature. He is also useful due to his "third eye," or his scrying talent- which may not always fall on the legal side of things. Howler calls him a "peeping witch."
Pedrossa
Mentioned by Ymilsano in Stalemate. He is the target receiver of the spices that would have gone bad aboard Ymilsano's ship had the crew decided to sail all the way across to the Dalelands with them.
Percival (Percy)
First seen: The wake-up encounter.
Percival is the offensive mage component of Dan's terrible adventuring party. He has endured Spellplague, and has hideous, perpetually aching scars that circle his plague-tainted eyes. When he is using magic, these scars glow a sickening, acid green, and apparently burn him.
Priscilla Ranclyffe
A departed spirit first seen in Grave Messenger, but first actually referenced in Water in the Stone. This is Trizelle Ranclyffe's great aunt, the sister of her father's father. She is aware of Terezio's attitude toward Trizelle, and also aware of Trizelle's temperament- because of this, she was quite nervous to give Seyashen her message.
Blade Rafael Unessmus (Rafa)
First referred to by name in Harmony, this Purple Dragon is relatively savy. He was in charge of Mi'ishaen on the way to Suzail, but eventually became the sole surviving member of Aleksei's escort party. He holds ale well, but not frenzywater.
Rancelair Illance (Rancid Rancie)
First referred to by name in Three birds, this nobleman is making under-the-table deals that have turned the Sunfire Mercenaries into a funnel for Semmite slavers. He has been slowly targeting opponents of a Cormyrean-Semmite trade alliance in hopes that he will make political and economic inroads in the right places.
Sadrianae/Sadriana
First referred to in Stalemate, this young Elven woman was Ymilsano's wife. Due to his murder and all the events that came tumbling after it, Ymilsano has judged it best to send Liam- her brother- back with a plea to publicly curse and divorce him. She refused to give Ymilsano children, due to a dream she received- Ymilsano calls her a "righteous female" and credits her example with his return to the Elven gods.
Saul, Sarai, Salone and Sylvester (Sly) Raibeart
Saul, Sarai and Sylvester are all seen in Keen focus; Salone is only mentioned. All children of Stephen and Susanna Raibeart, these kids are well-mannered, even if each has their own streak of stubbornness. Saul is a bit too impatient to make good bows. Sarai's voice is rather hawkish, but that's quite useful when delivering messages in a noisy smithy. Salone is shadowing her mother, learning to cook, clean, sew, and manage the matters of the home. Sylvester, who is studying to become a scribe, prefers the company of his mother and elder sisters to that of his brother and father.
Shiv (Parderyn)
First seen: Dual rogue.
A male of some sort of Elven descent who is visually impaired in one eye, Shiv still manages to do excellent work with a blow gun. He works with the Coalwater Mercenaries, and was caught in the Sunfire base of operations for some reason.
Stephen (Papa Raibeart, Stevie, Tevya) and Susanna (Suze; nee: Cheluais) Raibeart
First seen in Keen focus, Stephen is Iordyn's fiercely protective big brother, and Susanna his unpretentious sister-in-law. Together, they have four children, and they are hoping for a fifth. The eldest son of Yeshua Raibeart, Stephen notes that the retired lionar is a better grandfather than he was a father, and does not wish to become like him. However, with his brutally violent schoolyard past, Stephen's struggle to remain non-abusive was once very real. Susanna was once an acolyte of Chauntea, and still retains some of her abilities from that time.
Syndaraen
First referred to in A rocky landing, this Elf runs an alchemy shop in Marsember. He usually runs a clean shop- physically speaking.
Taricia
First mentioned in An unexpected inheritance, Taricia used to be Aaron Raibeart's commanding officer. The two struck up a non-professional relationship, and although they remain officially unmarried, Aleksei- upon hearing Stephen's description of Taricia's treatment for the absent-minded Aaron- notes that they are already as married as they need to be.
Battlemage Terezio Reginald Ranclyffe (Rezi)
Master Trizelle Ranclyffe's father, a former war wizard, now a teacher to others in Suzail at the College of War Wizards. First seen in Savy Seer. Unlike Trizelle, he has not published any written work on magic, but he is a talented diviner. Like his wife, he speaks another language- and he hears his full name from his wife when he's in trouble.
Valeria (Ria)
Iordyn's faithful dog, first seen in Sibling Rivalry, a bull terrier type that is highly excitable. She is much more smaller than Niku is, but will still attempt to take him on in a fight. She is also much more obedient than he is, and will heed commands given by people other than Iordyn.
Ornrion Vannus
First seen in Privileged as Iordyn's interrogator, this not-so-smooth operator has all the cultural delicacy of the guards back in Urmlaspyr. He is of Master Trizelle Ranclyffe's generation, and lives in Suzail.
Lionar Yeshua and Lady Hanna Raibeart
Iordyn's father and mother, first mentioned in Sibling Rivalry. Both live in Marsember; Yeshua is retired from the Purple Dragons. According to Stephen, Yeshua is glad of Iordyn's impending judgment, thinking that it is just retribution for his choice of weapon and the way he conveniently avoided being part of the Cormyr-Sembia/Thultanthar war. Hanna told Yeshua that it was important that Iordyn go to study the ways of Lathander because it was likely that he would become a priest.
